2: The purpose of this note is to prove that the 

3: symplectic mapping class groups of many K3 surfaces 

4: are infinitely generated. Our proof makes no use of any 

5: Floer-theoretic machinery but instead follows the approach 

6: of Kronheimer and uses invariants derived from the Seiberg-Witten 

7: equations.
