2: The possibilities for new or unusual kinds of topological, locally

3: linear periodic maps of \emph{non-prime} order on closed, simply

4: connected $4$--manifolds with positive definite intersection pairings

5: are explored.  On the one hand, certain permutation representations on

6: homology are ruled out under appropriate hypotheses.  On the other

7: hand, an interesting homologically nontrivial, pseudofree, action of

8: the cyclic group of order 25 on a connected sum of ten copies of the

9: complex projective plane is constructed.
