2: In this paper a new \bhp-adaptive strategy for elliptic problems

3: based on refinement history is proposed, which chooses

4: \bh-, \bp- or \bhp-refinement on individual elements

5: according to a posteriori error estimate, as well as

6: smoothness estimate of the solution obtained by comparing the

7: actual and expected error reduction rate.

8: Numerical experiments show that exponential convergence

9: can be achieved with this strategy.
