2: This paper introduces a new combinatorial invariant for finitely presentable groups called {\it simplicial complexity}. This complexity is strongly related to another invariant arising from systolic geometry and called {\it systolic area}. Beside its own interest, the simplicial complexity allows us to obtain new finitude results for systolic area and to precise its behaviour in terms of the $1$-torsion of the group.
