2: We describe M\`ui invariants in terms of Milnor operations and 

3: give a simple proof for M\`ui's theorem

4: on rings of invariants of polynomial tensor exterior algebras 

5: with respect to the action of finite

6: general linear groups. Moreover, we compute some rings of 

7: invariants of Weyl groups of maximal non-toral elementary

8: abelian $p$--subgroups of exceptional Lie groups.
