2: Information-communication technology promotes collaborative

3: environments like Wikipedia where, however, controversiality and

4: conflicts can appear. To describe the rise, persistence, and

5: resolution of such conflicts we devise an extended opinion dynamics

6: model where agents with different opinions perform a single task to

7: make a consensual product. As a function of the convergence parameter

8: describing the influence of the product on the agents, the model shows

9: spontaneous symmetry breaking of the final consensus opinion represented

10: by the medium. In %For 

11: the case when agents are replaced with new ones at a

12: certain rate, a transition from mainly consensus to a perpetual

13: conflict occurs, which is in qualitative agreement with the scenarios

14: observed in Wikipedia.
